Why light instead of noise?
In small studies, people who woke to slowly rising light felt less sleepy and in a better mood than without it (van de Werken et al., 2010; Gabel et al., 2013). People woken by harsh, beeping tones felt groggier than those woken by softer sounds (McFarlane et al., 2020). So you wake to light first, and add a gentle nature sound only if you want. Everyone sleeps differently, and this is a lamp and alarm clock, not a medical device.
